User titles

You may have noticed some changes on our site today, specifically some new colors and changes on the profile page. We’ve introduced a system that assigns titles to users based on their performance in rated competitions like the Eolymp Cup and Weekend Practice. These titles help organize users into groups according to their performance and provide a bit of motivation to solve more problems.

If you’re familiar with ranking systems on sites like Codeforces and Atcoder, this will feel quite similar. After each rated competition, we calculate your rating based on your performance. Based on this rating, we assign you a title, and some titles will also highlight your name with a special color across the site.

Here are the 12 titles we're starting with:

Title

Color

Description

Newbie

None

Bottom 12% of users, including those without a rating.

Explorer

None

Top 88% of users.

Student

None

Top 77% of users.

Proficient

None

Top 66% of users.

Advanced

Green

Top 55% of users.

Skilled

Green

Top 44% of users.

Specialist

Green

Top 34% of users.

Expert

Blue

Top 24% of users.

Candidate (master)

Blue

Top 15% of users.

Master

Yellow

Top 8% of users.

International Master

Yellow

Top 3% of users.

Grandmaster

Red

Top 1% of users.

We chose some common titles to keep things familiar but also added a few new ones for beginners to make it fun for everyone.

There are no fixed rating values for titles; instead, the range for each title depends on the overall ratings. For example, if there are 1000 users, the top 10 will be Grandmasters, the next 20 will be International Masters, and so on. So, if you're a "Specialist," it means you're better than 66% of the users on the site (congratulations!). This also means your title might change even if your rating stays the same.

You can find your title on your profile page, and you’ll have the chance to improve your rating in the next Weekend Practice at the end of the month.

If you have any questions about the new ranking system, feel free to leave a comment below.

Also you can make a section for friends like codeforces. It could be really good to discuss with your friends and when it is contest the friends section will be disabled.
